Home to Stay MPLS Coalition Makes Final Push for “Yes on 3” Vote on Rent Stabilization, Highlight Massive GOTV Operation

MINNEAPOLIS – The Home to Stay MPLS coalition, which brings together faith, labor and community groups who represent tens of thousands of Minneapolis renters, homeowners and landlords, celebrated an election day that will cap off a massive Get Out the Vote operation in support of the Yes on 3 charter amendment. A yes vote would open up a path for Minneapolis to pass rent stabilization to help address the city's housing crisis.

Home to Stay MPLS Campaign Director Claire Bergren highlighted the coalitions’ pride in the grassroots work and excitement over today’s vote:

“Our coalition is incredibly proud of the work we’ve done to center the voices of Minneapolis residents who know we need to make changes in our city. We firmly believe that every person – no matter our race, wealth or zip-code – should have a safe, stable place to live. Voting Yes on Question 3 will open the door to making the kind of changes needed to make sure every family in Minneapolis, no exceptions, can thrive. We will spend all day getting out the vote and look forward to tonight’s results.

While developers and real estate lobbies have spent a stunning amount of money to distract, divide and scare voters (with pre-election amounts alone already topping an eye-watering $4.3 million), Home to Stay MPLS caps off a push that has seen 284,085 calls, texts, and doors knocked and 20,092 conversations.

Renters and leaders of the Home to Stay MPLS coalition will release a statement following the announcement of election results and are available for comment throughout the day and after polls close. If news outlets would like to stop by the coalition’s private watch event, please respond to this email for location and time.
